The City of Maple Grove MN is located about 20 minutes northwest of downtown Minneapolis, making this city a popular suburb for downtown workers. With a population of over 65,000, Maple Grove MN is known for it’s extensive park and trail system, community center, entertainment and shopping. In fact, Maple Grove has the second largest amount of retail shopping in the state, including the beautiful Arbor Lakes outdoor mall.

The majority of Maple Grove is located in the Osseo School District, with portions located in the Wayzata School District.

Things to do in Maple Grove MN

The Maple Grove Community Center is located on Weaver Lake Road. The community center features indoor and outdoor pools, gyms, indoor playgrounds, meeting rooms, a teen lounge and much more! Lifetime Fitness is a full service health club located in the same building as the Community Center.

The Maple Grove Sounds of Summer Concert Series showcases live music and entertainment at the Town Green Mondays and Wednesday evenings at 7pm and a children’s themed show Thursdays at 10:30 am June – August/Sept.

The Maple Grove Arboretum features the Angel of Hope statue and over 100 local trees for study. This 15 acre park is located along Elm Creek.

Maple Grove Central Park Central Park is a wonderful 44 acre park that can be enjoyed all year round with an interactive fountain, playground, skating loop, a pavilion, pickleball and more!

Elm Creek Park Reserve is a 4,900 acre park that has a man made swimming pond, winter recreation area, miles of trails and the Eastman Nature Center, giving you an up close view of local wildlife and nature including a natural playground, trails and pond!

Fish Lake Regional Park is located on Fish Lake and features a swimming beach, pavilion and concessions in the summer, trails, an off leash dog park and boat launch.

Maple Grove Lake Access and Public Boat Launch:

Eagle Lake, Fish Lake and Weaver Lake all have a Public Boat Launch. Cedar Island Lake and Rice Lake are carry on only. Cook Lake, Lake Edward, Mud and Pike Lake do not have a public boat access. More details here.

If you need something, you can probably find it in Maple Grove. Just about every big box retailer exists in Maple Grove and you can find a lot of local small businesses too! Grocery Stores include Cub, Hy-Vee, Target, Whole Foods and Trader Joes. There is a Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club and Costco. For outdoor enthusiasts, you can find Sierra, REI and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
