Where to bring your unwanted items in the NW Metro

Many people are decluttering right now – but wonder what to do with their unwanted items! Here is a list of places that you can bring or donate your unwanted items in and around the Twin Cities NW Metro!

Hazardous Items and Recycling:

Maximum Recycling is located at 21025 S Diamond Lake Rd in Rogers and accepts scrap metal, electronics, copper, aluminum, aluminum cans, brass, stainless steel, insulated wire, Christmas lights, sheet iron, prepared steel, appliances, batteries, PCs, circuit boards, floppy drives, and more. Their number is 763-425-7800

The Hennepin County Recycling Center is located in Brooklyn Park at 8100 Jefferson Highway. You can bring household hazardous waste, paint, oil, batteries, electronics and more. Check their website for full list.

The Wright County Compost and Recycling facility is located in Buffalo.

Confidential paper and hard drives can be disposed of at Shred-it in Brooklyn Park. They will take small and large amounts of paper at their facility, or you can arrange to have it picked up.

The Maple Grove Yardwaste Site is privately owned and is free to residents of Maple Grove, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Dayton, Champlin, New Hope, Crystal, and Rogers (with permit). Residents of other communities can use this site for a fee.

Randy’s Sanitation has a fee based drop off location in Delano for bulky items, batteries, cardboard, electronics and more. The St. Michael public drop site is no longer open.

Device Pitstop in Maple Grove will recycle phones, computers and small electronics.

Sherwin Williams and some big box hardware store paint department stores will take unsued paint.

Local “Buy Nothing Groups” on Facebook is a great way to gift unwanted items to other local residents. You should only join the group in your city. These links will take you to Facebook

St Vincent de Paul Store – St Michael

Cross Services in Rogers takes donations of food, clothing, new toys, new school supplies and hygiene items.

Goodwill has locations in Elk River, Maple Grove, Champlin, Brooklyn Park and Plymouth

The Salvation Army has locations in Rogers and Elk River

Junk Pick Up

Jeremy Ertz is the Owner of Junk-it and Dump-it and will pick up your items and dispose of them. His number is (763) 234-4350

For small demo projects or garage/basement clean out, Waste Management will pick up a Bagster for about $200. You can purchase a Bagster at your local Hardware store for around $30. Check the Waste Management website for specific pricing.
